It’s a shame that we don’t get to hear it as often because a good version of Final Fantasy VI is hard to find. Kefka was pretty original and his development across the story went far beyond any final fantasy villain to this day. I just want a improved remaster / remake of the the 3DS version already. I have a big soft spot for IX and think it's spiritually very similar to VI but the nostalgia hits you best if you love VI, play through VII and VIII and wish you could go back to something similar. Based on the mobile version, this Steam port retains the same horrible art "style," but it's not quite as dire in terms of play as the iOS release. Stay at home. These are only small examples of how good a remake with “2D-HD” graphics could be. VI is available on IOS and Steam but it ditches the pixel-art that gave the game nostalgic charm. Final Fantasy VI just isn’t as widely available as most of the other games in the series and games like Final Fantasy VII, IX & X are brought up so much more when discussing the best Final Fantasy games (for a very good reason). DoktorAbata 11 months ago #1. Am I right?" Join. But it was clearly a "possibly at some point in the distant future" type thing, so I wouldn't hold your breath. Quite a few times playing this version of the game I've found myself needing a specific control and totally confused about what it could possibly be, frantically tapping miscellanous keys and freaking my computer out, and unable to open the FF6 launcher whilst playing the actual game - so it's for this reason that I decided to make an easy-to-reference guide listing all the controls. Also, a lot of the anticipation and expectations for Final Fantasy VII, Square Enix’s favorite child, were so high because VI was considered to be such a masterpiece, and the storytelling was top-notch. I think the best you can hope for is for S-E to bring the mobile ports of FF1-FF6 to Switch as well. RetiredPush Square Moderator and all around retro gamer. @NinChocolate I think the older FF titles may eventually come to NSO or be released in a stand alone collection. At this point I'd recommend playing quintessential FF titles on other platforms if you like what you've played so far. And yes I have played 7 before you ask me that. Discord: Heavyarms55 / SW 4867-2891-2493#1475 You get a better appreciation of the evolution of the series and the story and music in VII will hook you fast. Has no mini game. So the graphics get worse but the story gets better :D. Why not right? Yeah, I thought something very vague about that had been said but not yet anything definite Think there's more than enough people who would like the earlier games, on Switch, though. Favorite Quote: "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic." I'm not saying X is bad, I'm saying it pales in comparison to XII's world building and geopolitics. Square Enix’s big focus right now is obvioulsy on the Final Fantasy VII Remake, especially since they are releasing the game in parts which will likely take years to full realize. They were always super generic. Those games may ultimately be hard to go back to because they haven't exactly aged well, BUT if you've been able to stick to long retro games in the past and don't get distracted yearning for something with a more modern feel, I'd highly recommend starting at VII (and I really wish you could start at VI, but that's strangely hard to do: the PC and phone ports are awful; the versions available on PSN have the terrible load times of the PSone version; the Wii store is closed, and even if you did have a Wii or WiiU lying around who wants to hook that thing up? But what about Final Fantasy 1,2,3,4,5 and 6 and 8? It's something they should absolutely do IMO. Home » Opinions » Final Fantasy VI Deserves a Remaster as Much as Anything Else. C'mon Square Enix, it's overdue. My favorites would be 7 and 9 but I enjoyed them all. It’s so drastic that the world map changes, certain locations drastically change or are just gone, and all the NPC’s have different dialogue/personalities (some even die). I'm getting XII today and I love when they delve into some political stuff and great world building. Press J to jump to the feed. It isn't Nintendo's call, it's entirely up to square enix, which is unfortunate considering their track record with classic releases. Tried it once, about a decade ago, and came away very impressed. I'd like to think we'll get the likes of FFVI and, especially, Chrono Trigger on the Switch, eventually. User account menu. PSN: Heavyarms55zx. If you played the Xenoblade games, they are a bit similar. Would be nice if they ported the psp or gba versions to switch. Nintendo would have to pay for it. Pricing also isn't attractive, it was cheaper when it initially released on mobile, and the PSOne Classics version is still there for only $9.99. : The card game + collecting cards in itself can take up hours and hours of playtime. I'm still holding out for a remake of FF6 using the Octopath Traveller art style.
